I wrote earlier about our intention to return to the Showgrounds to collect the gold that is stable manure – that rich mix of well-bred poo and well-bred lucerne. Following the Show, there is HEAPS of this stuff, that creates a bit of a nuisance and a bit of a problem. I had assumed that it would be highly sought after and that it would not be long on the ground, but I asked anyway. To my dismay, I was told to take as much as I wanted (please), because it is difficult to remove, and just goes to landfill.
And so, a few days ago, we returned.
I did the work. Tom watched.
Charlie played (and got excited when she found a pointy stick to poke the poo, and got Very excited when she found a poo into which her pointy stick would go).
We took it home,
And, extended the garden, using a thick base of cardboard, topped with felled mango branches, and with a couple of old tyres to combine as small retaining walls and boggy places to grow waterchestnuts.
Tomorrow, we may begin to plant.
