Despite its title, My Fair Share is really about Us.
If you wish to contribute, then send your ‘post’ to bryan@bryan-west.com and I’ll get it posted on your behalf.
Feeling keen? Let me know if you’d like to become a more regular contributor (participant?) and we’ll set you up to post directly to the site.

Bryan,
I have been a (rather slack) FSI member for a couple of years, and have found looking at your blog very interesting.
Congratulations on what you’re doing on the website, and in your life.
In Melbourne a few of us have met up a few times, but life is a bit busy and a bit distracting to be more involved.
The internet and blogging are obviously a huge possibility for connecting with others.
Good luck with it all,
Heather.

I really appreciate your blog, Brian, and I’d like to see lots of FSI members contributing. You are a lot further down the track of ethical living than I am and that is inspiring to me and makes me think, what could I do? Perhaps I could begin by taking an inventory of what I do do and then set small goals for progress. It is easy to throw up my hands in dismay when I read about your wonderful actions and feel that I can never be so good! We all have to start somewhere.

Wow.
Thank you. I am currently learning the ropes of life with a newborn and have just had my faith in the future restored. It is great to know that like minded people exist. The knowledge gives me the strength to stay focused and kind instead if angry and alone. I hope that many more people can connect and that we can develop meaningful relationships and realities.

Sam, feel free to become part of this attempt to enable more people to “connect and … develop meaningful relationships and realities”. Your perspective and thoughts would prove very welcome to the My Fair Share community.

Hi ,
I was wondering if someone could take me through the My Fair Share idea. Is there an organisation or does it just occur through word of mouth?
Cheers
Sam

Hi Sam,
Thanks for dropping by. My Fair Share is based – rather loosely – on the four goals of the Australian group, Fair Share International. These goals, and a link the the FSI website is provided on the “Solution” page within My Fair Share. Although I am a member of FSI, My Fair Share is not limited to members (indeed, I think most participants – readers and authors – are not members). The My Fair Share idea is one that is based on word of mouth.
What are your thoughts?
Bryan

Goodness me. I just spent some time replying and now it has not come up after I submitted it. Oh well.
I had a look at the goals, it seems that my family and I are already participating in our own mish mash version of the first three goals. It will be interesting to see how we stack up to the ‘national average’ at the moment and then try to develop some targets.
I am a little confused by the fourth goal. Could you tell me what you mean by democracy in this context. That word is quite a chameleon and I do not want to try to think about it until I have a clearer idea of what is meant.
I do like the idea of word of mouth as the way these things are grown. Our behaviours need to reflect cultural and social values. We should not feel guilty about the way things currently are or what we haven’t done, we should just work towards making our realities different.
As an aside, it reached 43C in our backyard today. I have become fascinated with how difficult it seems to be for us (our society) to let go of all the human distractions and just accept the climate around us. One just cannot run around in the heat. Time sort of becomes like treacle and you have to relax otherwise it is quite distressing to be in.

Being a newcomer to this blog, I can’t be sure what others mean by their versions of this goal, but here’s mine.
As a child born into Australia in 1974, I am one of the luckiest people ever to live on the planet. I was born into a society in which my civil rights were recognised and protected by effective legal institutions. Where decades of social investment guaranteed I would not go hungry, grow up illiterate, or want for basic healthcare.
I take it for granted. But it is a gift from the centuries. Individual living breathing people engaged in the French Revolution, the civil rights movement, womens suffrage, railway baron philanthropy, or wars against fascism and dictatorships.
I think I owe them, and my own children, a duty to “pay it forward”. to get involved in democratic processes (beyond voting) to ensure my voice is heard. And to be vigilant over (and loud about) any retreats from the democratic processes we have today.
